When you register for classes at SHAC, you will be asked to create an account with our new class registration service, SportsEngine. With this service, you can now view different class schedules, contact the instructors of a class, and access program/class information directly from the SportsEngine Motion mobile app!
Once you have created a SportsEngine account during the checkout process for a SHAC Center class, you will be able to access your account information on your computer or through the SportsEngine apps listed below:

Join instructor, Kim Favro as she leads a less strenuous version of yoga called Chair Yoga. Taking place on Wednesdays from October 2nd-November 20th from 5:30pm-6:30pm, you may choose to attend an individual class or the full 8 week session.
Self Defense instructor, Dan Prendergast, will lead an Intro to Combat Hapkido defense course for all genders ages 16+. This 8 week course will take place on Mondays from 6:30pm-7:30pm at the SHAC Center
Join Craig McMillen, John Slyer, and Jeanne Bubie for a 10 week archery class for ages 9 and up. This class will take place on Fridays, September 20th-November 22nd, from 6:30-7:30pm. Choose all 10 classes or individual classes from the Registration page.
On November 7th from 6pm-8pm join Erin Walsh, a Certified Master Food Preserver with Cornell Cooperative Extension, as she teaches you the basics of preserving vegetables through lacto-fermentation.
Yoga instructor, Keri Stern, will lead a 10 week yoga class for ages 16 and up. On Tuesdays, October 15th-December 17th from 5:30pm-6:30pm, you may choose to drop in per class or attend all 10 weeks.
Karl Michael will be leading a memoir writing workshop for creative individuals 18 years and older. This workshop will be held on Tuesdays 10am-12pm starting September 17th.
Instructor Joe Behson will be conducting a treadmill walking & indoor cycling class for adults and seniors that will take place Wednesdays, 11am-12pm starting September 25th.
Volunteers Maggie and Marcia are offering a tech help class for seniors starting Friday, September 20th from 10am-12pm. The instructors will help set up email accounts, aid in texting, and more. Please bring in any smartphones or tablets that you would like assistance with.
Instructor John Slyer will help lead an informational class about the basics of strength training along with some basic exercises that you can perform yourself. Taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting September 16th, from 10am-12pm at SHAC.
Flex your ping pong skills or learn the basics of the game with instructor, CandyLee Budesheim. The SHAC Center will have multiple tables for players to practice on and play. Ping Pong class will start September 17th and take place on Tuesdays from 10am-12pm each week.
Come join instructor, Karl Michael in our lively pickleball class where players of all skill levels can enjoy this fast-paced, social sport. Class will take place at the Butler Park pickleball courts starting September 18th and taking place on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm each week.
Coaches John & Kathy Slyer will be leading an outdoor cycling course for people of all skill levels this fall. This course will meet at the Nassau Post Office Pavilion of the Empire Trail Bike Path on Thursdays from 8am-10am. Equipment needed: Bicycle, helmet, lights for front and back of bicycle, repair kit with extra tube for your tire, and 2 water bottles (Helmets and bikes can be provided by the SHAC Center upon request)
SHAC Center's Open Mic Night is the perfect stage for you to showcase your talent. Bring your voice or instrument and take advantage of our provided equipment to perform your favorite songs or original pieces. Open Mic Night will be open for performances on Wednesday, November 13th from 6pm-8pm.
Outdoor enthusiast, Andy Jacob, will be leading easy, nature-focused walks on local trails to the SHAC Center. We would love to help you enjoy the great outdoors this fall! Andy's first class will be held on September 18th and take place each week on Wednesdays from 10am-11am (weather permitting).
Would you like to join a Knitting and Quilting club with others from the area? Instructor Anneliese Siebert will host a club for creative individuals to come together and craft. This class will start September 16th and take place each Monday from 10am-12pm.
SHAC's Tennis coach, Joe Behson, will guide senior players through the basics of tennis while using a a foam ball . Class will be held on Fridays from 10am-11am starting on September 25th.
Aikido is a non-competitive martial art from Japan that focuses on using an opponent’s energy and flowing, graceful movements to redirect the opponent into a throw or a pin. In this way, it is an art that utilizes movement and energy to defuse a hostile situation. Aikido is suitable for all ages, body types, and fitness levels. Starting September 17th on Tuesdays from 11am-12pm, join instructor, Peggy Jacob as she helps get your body moving in this fun and energetic fitness class.
Learn simple recipes and cooking basics with instructor, Candylee Budesheim. Cooking class will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-12pm starting September 17th.
Maryann Francis will be hosting a Board and Card Games group from 10am-12pm on Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 16th. Come and play with us!
Join Debi Michael every other Wednesday at the SHAC Center to participate in our new Mah Jongg Club! This club will meet on the following days from 1pm-3pm: 8/28, 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, 12/18
Come together to play Bridge every other Monday starting August 12th from 1pm-3pm, hosted by Pat Mulligan.
Tennis Coach, Joe Behson is leading a Foam Ball Tennis Class for children (ages 5-10yrs) and their guardians. It will take place on Wednesdays, 5:45pm-6:45pm from October 16th-November 20th.
Val Gray will be hosting an Open Mic/Live Karaoke session on the first Monday of October, November, and December from 1pm-3pm.
Our caregiver support group and memory café offers a supportive, welcoming environment for caregivers and their loved ones who are experiencing memory loss due to Alzheimer’s or dementia.
This group will meet at SHAC from 11am-12:30pm Thursdays, Oct. 24th, Nov. 21st, Dec. 19th.

Join retired teacher, Debi Michael in an open art studio at the SHAC Center where you can bring your own art supplies and have a space to practice your painting, drawing, and other art-making abilities. This will take place on Thursdays from 12:30pm-4pm.
