Appalachian Trail Day 15 #ATHike4SHAC

Day 15:Russel Field Shelter to Clingmans Dome (200 miles!) Mt Collins Shelter

March 11, 2023 (mile to 202.8)

When headed out some folks said I was crazy to do Clingmans, “It’s going to be like 30 miles” they told me.

From what I saw in the weather reports, Saturday was going to be the best time to get a clear view from the top. I passed my shelter roomies,  Friday, Magic Fingers, Eli and Steve. They all seemed set on a presummit shelter. I told them I may see them but I was still going to plan on

Day 14:Fontana Dam to Russel Field Shelter

March 10, 2023 (mile 166 180.8)

The morning was shot with heavy downpours. I spent the morning getting my YouTube channel so it was organized. I also found lots of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors throughout my journal. I’m sure there are more!

I finally noticed that the rain had stopped. If I wanted to beat the bad weather heading in I had to get up trail so I could submit Clingmans Done on Saturday. I did not want to do a zero on a day where I c

Day 13: Cable Gap Shelter to Fontana Dam

March 9, 2023 (mile 159.2 to 166)
Cable Gap Shelter was the best! Slept well, no one to disturb and nobody snoring to disturb me!

Rover headed out 20 min before me. I met Nutella and Bane from Austria. I also saw X-Ray take off and I waved goodbye to Ragnar, Russel & Rock (Randy).

I knew I only had a few miles to go to get to the Fontana Village where I would pick up my resupply from Kathy.

I cranked up the tunes and megan the 40 minute climb. The best part

Appalachian Trail Day 10 #ATHike4SHAC

Day 10; Rock Gap Shelter to Cold Springs

March 6, 2023 (mile105.6 to 125.2)

Leaving the newest place so far in the trail and heading to one of the oldest. We pass lots of folks heading north today that we hadn’t see until now.

I start it with Graham in front of me and notice that he’s running down hill. Yes! This guy told me he does not like rubbing is actually rubbing down all the hills and Swiss is following him. They are cruising at 4mph and even faster. I’m now being outpaced by two guys that
